Cubs Sign Eric Yardley
3 years agoThe Chicago Cubs, per the team's official transaction log page, signed right-handed pitcher Eric Yardley to a minor league contract on Monday. Previously a member of the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers, Yardley has pitched to a 3.52 ERA and a 5.05 FIP in 53.2 career innings in the Majors dating back to the 2019 season. He also recorded 31 strikeouts over that span while walking 23 batters. The reliever should give the Cubs some additional bullpen depth for the coming season. After moving Craig Kimbrel, Ryan Tepera, and Andrew Chafin at the trade deadline last season, Chicago's current late-inning options include Codi Heuer, Rowan Wick, Brad Wieck
