4 years agoFree-agent utility man Eric Sogard has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Sogard was linked to a few teams, including the Twins, but he'll sign on with the Cubs as a non-roster invitee after the Brewers declined his $4.5 million option for 2021. The 34-year-old had a down year last season after slashing .290/.353/.457 with 13 homers and eight stolen bases in 110 games in 2019. Sogard is more of a depth signing at this point, considering the Cubs already have Ian Happ, who can fill the jack-of-all-trades role.--Tim Capurso
