Cubs Reportedly Agree To Terms With Drew Smyly
3 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have reportedly agreed to terms with left-handed starter Drew Smyly, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The 32-year-old appeared in 29 games for the Atlanta Braves last season, making 23 starts and throwing 126.2 innings. He pitched to a 4.48 ERA and a 5.11 FIP in those innings while registering 117 strikeouts and 41 walks. Smyly figures to join a Cubs rotation that also includes Kyle Hendricks, Alec Mills, and fellow new additions Marcus Stroman and Wade Miley. He'll likely only have fantasy value in deeper leagues, but could hold streaming appeal at times during the season as he's now set to pitch in the same division as the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds.
