Cubs Option Owen Caissie To Triple-A
35 seconds agoChicago Cubs outfield prospect Owen Caissie was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday as the team made the first round of roster cuts. Although Caissie is one of the Cubs' top prospects, it wasn't surprising to see him get sent down since the Cubs are currently set in the outfield with Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker, and Pete Crow-Armstrong, in addition to the fact that Caissie had been shut down last week due to left-groin tightness. The team also has outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara, who is knocking the cover off of the ball this spring and could be called upon if needed. The left-handed hitting Caissie has plenty of pop in his bat, belting 19 home runs last season at Triple-A in 127 games, and also offers strong on-base potential with his ability to draw walks, owning a superb 13.8 percent walk rate in his minor league career. Redraft managers will want to be ready to pluck the 22-year-old off the waiver wire as soon as he gets the call to the big leagues and may even consider stashing if Crow-Armstrong starts off slow.
