5 years agoChicago Cubs pitcher Adbert Alzolay is rejoining the team on Monday after spending the past two months at Triple-A Iowa. The news comes a day after Yu Darvish (forearm) was scratched from his Sunday start. Manager Joe Maddon said Darvish was scratched as a precaution, but if he remains sidelined, Alzolay could be in line for a start this Saturday in Milwaukee. For now, consider Alzolay as a long relief option for the team until further notice. The 24-year-old Alzolay struggled in his three starts with the Cubs this year, going 1-1 with a 7.15 ERA and 1.68 WHIP, but his 91 strikeouts over 65 1/3 innings at Triple-A this year show he has some intriguing upside.
