Cubs Close to Deal for Brandon Kintzler
6 years agoThe Chicago Cubs are nearing a deal for Washington Nationals relief pitcher Brandon Kintzler, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Nationals have been invovled in trade rumors throughout the day. While they are keeping Bryce Harper, they had an excess of relief pitchers and used the deadline as an opportunity to clear potential cap space for next season. Kintzler carries a $10 million club option for the 2019 season. He has registered a 3.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a 2.38 K/BB ratio in 42 2/3 innings. Kintzler was traded to the Nationals at 2017's deadline and may be on the move again.
