Cubs Activate Ryan Tepera
3 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have activated relief pitcher Ryan Tepera (calf) from the 10-day injured list. Tepera spent the minimum amount of time on the injured list with a left calf strain. Tepera has been excellent out of the bullpen for the Cubs, but struggled in his last outing. That could be due to the calf injury and managers should strongly consider Tepera in leagues that counts holds. With the Cubs struggling and closer Craig Kimbrel becoming a hot trade commodity, Tepera would like see save chances if Kimbrel is dealt. Left-hander Andrew Chafin also would be a candidate to see save opportunities. Tepera owns a 3.85 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP in 37 2/3 innings. To make room for Tepera, the Cubs placed relief pitcher Brad Wieck (irregular heartbeat) on the 10-day injured. The Cubs continued the shuffling of their bullpen with the promotion of left-hander Kyle Ryan. To make room for Ryan, the Cubs demoted reliever Cory Abbott.
