Cubs Activate David Bote, Option Trevor Megill
3 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have activated infielder David Bote from the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Bote has been sidelined since May 29 with a separated shoulder and will be thrown right back into the lineup versus the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon. Bote has played all over the diamond for the Cubs and will be at third base and batting seventh on Sunday. Bote was off to a slow start this season and is hitting .201 with five home runs and 23 RBI in 144 at-bats. Bote is unlikely to see regular at-bats, but should get a good amount of starts per week with his versatility and could also get more playing time if the Cubs deal Kris Bryant and/or Javier Baez. Even with increased playing time, Bote doesn't offer much for managers to be excited about and can remain on the waiver wire for now. To make room for Bote, the Cubs have optioned relief pitcher Trevor Megill. Megill has gone back and forth between the big leagues and Triple-A this season and has an 11.57 ERA in seven games for the Cubs this season.
