Cubs Acquire Reliever David Phelps From Toronto
5 years agoToronto continued their deadline sale, shipping right-handed reliever and cash considerations to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. In exchange, the Blue Jays receive Thomas Hatch, a right-handed pitching prospect who has a 4.59 ERA in 100 innings this year at Chicago's double-A affiliate. By acquiring Phelps, the Cubs continue to try and shore up their bullpen after trading for left-hander Derek Holland last week. By trading Phelps away, the Blue Jays keep showing that they're willing to sell anything not nailed down, as the rebuilding team continues to acquire assets before the deadline.
