Craig Kimbrel Squeaks Out Fifth Save
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel picked up his fifth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Kimbrel was shaky in this one, allowing a run on a homer and also walking a batter, but he did manage to strike out a pair. He now holds a 6.35 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 18 IP. He has managed to convert all five of his save opportunities despite the poor numbers. The Phillies bullpen is a mess, but it appears they want to use Kimbrel in high leverage situations and that likely includes many save opportunities.
