Craig Kimbrel Secures 22nd Save
3 years agoChicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel worked a 1-2-3 with two strikeouts to record his 22nd save of the season on Tuesday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs were down 6-1 entering the top of the ninth inning, but scored six times to set up Kimbrel for the bottom of ninth inning. Kimbrel has been dominant this season and now owns a 0.52 ERA. With the Cubs appearing to be sellers, Kimbrel is a prime candidate to be dealt before the trade deadline, but he should continue to hold value if he is dealt. Relief pitchers Andrew Chafin and Ryan Tepera would be the most likely candidates to replace Kimbrel if he's dealt and both are worth a speculative add for managers seeking saves.
