Craig Kimbrel Picks Up Another Save On Thursday
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies closer Craig Kimbrel picked up the save on Thursday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one batter in a 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 35-year-old veteran was brought in to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and made quick work of the three batters he faced. He struck out Josh Rojas before getting Jake McCarthy to fly out and Gabriel Moreno to ground out to end the ball game. Kimbrel is now a perfect 10-for-10 on save opportunities this year and should continue to be relevant in high-leverage situations moving forward, even with the return of Jose Alvarado. Kimbrel has a 4.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 42:13 K/BB ratio over 27 innings to go along with the aforementioned 10 saves.
