1 month agoRunning back is one of the Dallas Cowboys' biggest needs in the upcoming NFL draft, but The Athletic's Jon Machota writes that it doesn't sound like they view it as their top priority at No. 12 overall. Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, the consensus top running back in this year's class, could still be the pick for the Cowboys at 12th overall, but it's looking more likely that they will go in another direction. It makes sense because this year is considered to be a strong RB class, so the Cowboys could be better off targeting a back in the second or third rounds. Jeanty didn't have a formal interview with Dallas at last week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, but there will be plenty of time for them to find a time to sit down with him before April. There are question marks about Jeanty's durability at the next level given the volume he saw in college, but he should be expected to have a major role in his first year in the NFL, depending on his landing spot.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 days agoThe Las Vegas Raiders are hosting several top draft prospects this week, including Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, sources tell NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Both Jeanty and Ewers will fly into Vegas. While Ewers would be a reach for the Raiders' sixth overall pick in the first round of this year's NFL draft, they also hold the No. 37 overall pick in the second round. Although the Raiders added veteran Raheem Mostert in free agency this offseason, they are still looking for a difference-maker at the position, and Jeanty is the clear No. 1 RB prospect in this year's draft class. Vegas has gained a lot of steam as a potential landing spot for Jeanty at sixth overall. The Raiders also signed quarterback Geno Smith to an extension recently, but Ewers could be selected as the eventual successor under center.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 week agoBoise State running back and 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up Ashton Jeanty is expected to be a first-round pick and the first ball-carrier selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. While the explosive runner has been tied to landing spots such as the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, the Las Vegas Raiders have emerged as the popular destination. The Raiders hold the No. 6 overall pick, and it would be a surprise if he's selected inside the top five. Meanwhile, DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Raiders as -150 favorites to land Jeanty, and ESPN's Field Yates projected Jeanty to land in the Sin City in his recent mock draft. Jeanty was excellent in his final collegiate season, rushing for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns. While the Las Vegas offense has struggled in recent years, quarterback Geno Smith, tight end Brock Bowers, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers provide enough firepower around him if the Raiders' offensive line can achieve at least league-average play. If Jeanty is the pick at No. 6 overall, expect him to be a full-fledged workhorse with immediate high-end RB1 upside for fantasy football.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller
