Cowboys Sign First-Rounder Tyler Smith
3 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys signed first-round offensive tackle Tyler Smith to a four-year, fully guaranteed $13.38 million deal that includes a fifth-year team option on Friday, according to sources. Smith was a two-year starter at Tulsa that was taken with the 24th overall selection in the first round this year. The 21-year-old is considered a bit raw, but he has considerable upside at both left tackle and guard at the next level. Smith probably has a better shot to start at guard in his rookie season, but he could also compete for the left tackle job in training camp. The Cowboys had arguably the best offensive line a few seasons ago, but that isn't the case anymore. The addition of Smith will upgrade the unit significantly.
