Cowboys Didn't Interview Deion Sanders For Head-Coach Job
1 day agoDallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that he never actually had a formal interview with former NFL cornerback and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders for the team's open head-coaching position. The Cowboys officially named Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach on Monday. "Just a conversation about the team, and about where he is, and his boys, conversation with his boys, that type of conversation," Jones said. "I've said I've talked to a lot of coaches, and Deion has a job." Hiring Sanders to replace Mike McCarthy at the helm in Dallas would have been a big splash for the organization, but Sanders has never coached in the NFL, and the Cowboys wanted to keep continuity with their offense by elevating Schottenheimer, who was the offensive coordinator in 2024. Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995-99.
