Could Chase Elliott Win From The Pole At New Hampshire?
6 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott was awarded the pole for Sunday's USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after qualifying was canceled due to rain. This is the first time in New Hampshire, and in 2024, the No. 9 Chevrolet driver will start from the first position. In 10 previous NHMS starts Elliott has three top-10 finishes, which all were gathered during his last six races at the site. With 17 races completed in 2024, Elliott has one win and nine top-10 finishes, including five of the last seven Cup events. In practice, before it was cut short due to weather, Elliott ranked 26th in overall lap averages and 20th in five consecutive lap averages. Despite the slow practice speeds, Elliott will start the race with a clean-air advantage, making him likely to display better overall speeds than practice. As a result, and based on his overall equipment and consistency, regardless of track type, Elliott is a quiet favorite to compete for the win.
