Cory Schneider Will Start For Devils Versus Caps
7 years agoNew Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider will make a rare start against the Washington Capitals on Saturday night as the team attempts to lock up the third seeding in the Metropolitan division. Keith Kinkaid has outplayed Schneider for the starter's job this season and helped carry the Devils into their first playoff berth since 2012, but tonight he will get a shot at redemption. They won't make it easy on Schneider, however, as New Jersey forwards Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri, along with defenseman Sami Vatanen are expected to sit this one out to rest for the playoffs. Schneider's last game came on March 20th when he allowed four goals on 14 shots in a 6-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. He's a better goalie than his numbers will tell you this season, but we may have to wait until next year to be reminded of it.
