Cory Schneider Announces Retirement From Hockey
1 year agoGoaltender Cory Schneider has retired from professional hockey after 16 pro seasons in the sport, including 13 in the NHL. The Marblehead, Massachusetts native appeared in 410 career regular-season games, working to a rock-solid 2.43 goals-against average and .918 save percentage alongside a 171-159-58 record with the Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils, and New York Islanders. His best seasons came after being taken with the 26th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Canucks, highlighted by a 1.96 GAA and .937 Sv% across 33 games in the 2011-12 season. He enjoyed three straight quality seasons following a move to the Devils prior to the 2013-14 campaign but struggled while appearing in just 80 games over his final four seasons.
