Corey Seager Will Play Shortstop On Monday
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager (elbow) will finally play the position for the first time this spring on Monday. He will play in the team's "B" game against minor leaguers, and the hope is that he'll start in a Cactus League game on Wednesday. That's the first piece of good news in a while for Seager, who has been battling a series of elbow ailments since the end of last season. He suffered a slight drop in production in his second year after winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2016, but is still a top-five talent at his position. His strikeout rate went up slightly in 2017 (21.4 percent), but so did his walk rate (10.9 percent). He's especially valuable in leagues that count on-base percentage. He hits at the top of one of the best lineups in baseball and will once again provide solid counting stats for his owners if he can stay healthy.
