Corey Seager Predicts Readiness For Opening Day
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager (elbow) said that his throwing elbow is good and anticipates being ready for Opening Day. He will serve as the designated hitter on Thursday and make his Cactus League debut playing short on Friday. Seager's elbow has been giving him trouble since last August. The reduced playing time created a confrontation between Seager and the team's doctors, who ultimately determined that surgery wasn't needed. He just made his debut at shortstop on Monday, and his fielding should quickly catch up timing-wise if he's indeed healthy. But players are usually more optimistic about their conditions and the real test will be how Seager feels once he's regularly throwing to first. He's a top-five fantasy asset at that position, but the extended time off is concerning.
