Corey Seager Out Wednesday As He Continues To Manage Calf Issue
15 seconds agoThe Texas Rangers continue to manage shortstop Corey Seager's calf injury, and he's out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Seager has been playing through the issue, but the Rangers aren't taking any chances early in the season. Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant expects Seager to sit in day games after an evening contest. Josh Smith will get the start at the 6 on Wednesday and will hit sixth against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene. Smith has one hit in just three career at-bats versus Greene. Seager's minor calf injury could be contributing to his slow start at the plate this year, as he's gone just 3-for-17 with a run scored, two walks and four strikeouts in his first five games of 2025. Ezequiel Duran is starting at the hot corner for the Rangers and will hit ninth. After Thursday's off day, Seager should be back for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.
