Corey Knebel Earns Shaky Save Tuesday
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies closer Corey Knebel managed to pick up his 10th save of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Brewers. Knebel entered to pitch the bottom of the ninth with a one-run lead. He walked the leadoff hitter, got the first two outs on fly outs, allowed back-to-back walks to load the bases, and got the final out on a strikeout to end the game. Knebel has been seeing consistent save opportunities this season and does have a respectable 3.38 ERA, but he has also blown three saves and has a poor 5.25 BB/9 rate. Knebel is still a mid-tier closer in roto leagues given his defined role, but the walks could come back to hurt him if left unchecked.
