Corey Kluber Placed On Injured List Friday
6 years agoThe Cleveland Indians officially placed starting pitcher Corey Kluber (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right ulna on Friday and recalled reliever Jon Edwards from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. The right-hander was struck by a line drive on his right elbow in his start on Wednesday. The 33-year-old will be in a cast for the next three weeks and will be given an X-ray once a week to see how the bone is healing, according to manager Terry Francona. Surgery isn't required at this time, but there is no current timetable for his return. He's been a disappointment this year, going 2-3 with a 5.80 ERA in his first seven starts, but he's averaging 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings and should remain stashed in all leagues. His owners should expect him to be out for a few months. Both Cody Anderson and Jefry Rodriguez will be forced into the rotation now.
