Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Corey Dickerson (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Dickerson has been out of action since April 4 with a shoulder strain. He's already suffered a setback once, so the Pirates want to make sure he is fully recovered before returning. In just four games, the 30-year-old is slashing .154/.313/.462, with a home run and two runs batted in. Bryan Reynolds and Melky Cabrera have been impressive as replacements. Reynolds, a rookie, is batting .321 with four homers and 12 RBI, while Cabrera has three home runs and 15 RBI, while sporting a healthy .333 average. The Pirates will likely have some decisions to make once Dickerson is healthy, but if he is on your waiver wire, he may be worthy of a stash if you have an open IL spot available.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against left-hander Jesus Luzardo and the Miami Marlins. Dickerson doesn't see much playing time against left-handers at this point in his career, and he's not very useful for fantasy managers in mixed leagues. The 33-year-old left-handed hitter has played in only two games this year, thanks to a calf strain that had him on the injured list for a while. Dickerson has only had four plate appearances and is still searching for his first hit while striking out twice. Stone Garrett is getting the nod in left field for the Nats and is hitting eighth against Luzardo. Garrett is batting .254 (17-for-67) with a homer and seven RBI in 19 games played in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf), who has been on the injured list since April 1 with a left calf strain, is starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Friday night. The Nationals will probably give Dickerson as much time as he needs in the minors before bringing him back to the big leagues. The expectation is that when he's healthy, he'll return to seeing regular time in left field against right-handed pitching for the rebuilding Nats. The 33-year-old left-handed-hitting veteran doesn't have a whole lot to offer fantasy managers these days, though, especially in a part-time role. Before getting hurt, he went hitless with two strikeouts in his two games played.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf) traveled with the team to Colorado and is taking light swings but not running yet. Relief pitcher Sean Doolittle (elbow) continues to throw off flat ground but hasn't gotten back on a mound yet. Dickerson was put on the 10-day injured list after straining his left calf last Saturday, and he's unlikely to be activated when he's eligible to return next week. In Dickerson's absence, Alex Call is seeing more playing time in left field. Doolittle had surgery last July to fix a partially torn UCL in his left elbow, and we're unlikely to see him in the big leagues until at least sometime in May.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a left calf strain. In a corresponding move, the team recalled outfielder Stone Garrett from Triple-A, and he could see some playing time in left field alongside Alex Call with Dickerson on the shelf. Call is starting in left field and is hitting sixth in the batting order on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves and left-hander Jared Shuster. The 33-year-old Dickerson was injured on Saturday, and he went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in the first two games of the regular season before landing on the injured list. Dickerson is by no means a must-hold in shallow mixed leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
