Cordarrelle Patterson Stepping Up
6 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson has been making highlight-reel catches in practices at training camp and has been turning heads. “He’s a hard-working guy,” head coach Bill Belichick said. “He’s out there every single day. He’s improved every day. He has skills in offense and the kicking game in a number of different areas, return skills, coverage skills, blocking skills, catching skills. He’s got some experience, so he’s able to utilize that. He understands his skill set and how it matches up against different types of players.” A former first-round pick, Patterson has been a bust as a receiver in his career with the Vikings. He had just 31 catches for 309 yards and two rushing touchdowns in his lone season with the Raiders in 2017. He's taking a lot of starting repetitions in camp and looks like he can contribute on special teams but also on offense. There's a chance he could carve out a role early in the year with Julian Edelman suspended. Consider Patterson with a late-round pick in deeper formats.
