Colson Montgomery Returning On Sunday
21 seconds agoChicago White Sox shortstop prospect Colson Montgomery (back) is returning to the starting nine on Sunday to face the Cleveland Guardians. Montgomery will cover shortstop and bat in the six-hole. The top prospect in the Chicago system has been sidelined since the end of February due to back spasms. Given his missed time, fantasy managers should expect him to open the season at the Triple-A level. Last season, the former 22nd overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft spent his entire campaign with Triple-A Charlotte and held a .214/.329/.381 line with 21 doubles and 18 home runs. He struggled to find consistency throughout the season but did begin to turn the corner in September as he posted a .223/.336/.401 line with four long balls. If the team were to send Montgomery to Triple-A at the start of the season, Brooks Baldwin will see most of the starting opportunities at shortstop in the majors.
