Colson Montgomery Dealing With Back Spasms
18 seconds agoChicago White Sox shortstop prospect Colson Montgomery (back) was scratched from Thursday's Cactus League lineup against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians for precautionary reasons due to back spasms, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. Montgomery is considered day-to-day. It's not a serious injury, but it's something to keep an eye on with the 23-year-old, who is considered by MLB Pipeline to be the No. 39 overall prospect entering the 2025 season. While he hasn't exactly turned heads with his production in the minor leagues and doesn't have high-end speed, he could easily be considered Chicago's shortstop of the future, perhaps due to lack of better options. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder does get on base often and has intriguing power. Montgomery should already be stashed in dynasty leagues and is worth a late-round flier in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues.
