Colin Moran Batting Eighth on Opening Day
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Colin Moran is slotted to bat eighth on Opening Day versus the Detroit Tigers. The 25-year-old was acquired from the Houston Astros in January as a part of the Gerrit Cole trade and immediately supplanted David Freese as the starter at the hot corner. Moran unlocked some power in Triple-A last year, mashing a career-best 18 home runs and slashing .308/.373/.543 in only 79 games before a promotion to the big leagues. He only received 12 plate appearances before his season ended when he fouled a ball off his face in a freak incident. Now healthy, he'll get the lion's share of playing time for the Pirates at third and could emerge on the fantasy radar if his 2017 power surge translates to the majors this season.

Colin Moran Has Contract Selected By Cincinnati
3 years agoCincinnati Reds infielder Colin Moran had his contract selected on Saturday. Mike Moustakas (calf) was placed on the injured list so Moran will be taking his place on the active roster. The former first-round pick has mostly struggled with the Reds this season, slashing just .210/.299/.360 with four home runs and 22 RBI over 100 at-bats. There's not any fantasy value here.

Colin Moran Optioned To Minors
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds optioned infielder Colin Moran and right-hander Jared Solomon to Triple-A Louisville and selected the contract of right-hander Graham Ashcraft from Louisville in a corresponding move on Friday. Left-hander Ross Detwiler was also reinstated from the bereavement list. Detwiler had four home runs in a four-game stretch early this month, but he's mostly been on the bench behind starter Joey Votto. The former Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed hitter is slashing just .202/.284/.351 with four home runs, 22 RBI and eight runs scored in 109 plate appearances over 34 games for the Reds in 2022. He'll only become fantasy relevant if Votto misses more time.

Colin Moran Blasts Two Homers In Win
3 years agoCincinnati Reds infielder Colin Moran put together a show during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI in the victory. Moran came into this game hitting .184/.259/.204 in 58 plate appearances. Moran blasted a grand slam and a two-run home run in the win. He has been getting extra playing time with Joey Votto sidelined. This was a nice performance for Moran, but he still isn't worth rostering in most fantasy formats.

Colin Moran Signs With Reds
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds and infielder Colin Moran have agreed to a one-year deal, according to the Cincinnati Reds. Not exactly the consolation Reds fans were hoping for after trading away Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, and Sonny Gray earlier this week. Moran posted a .258/.334/.390 slash line with 10 home runs across 318 at-bats in 2021 but specialized against right-handed pitching where he posted a .784 OPS. He only makes sense for fantasy purposes in NL only and extremely deep leagues/
