Cole Sulser Records His First Save On Thursday
3 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Cole Sulser closed out the team's 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday to earn his first save of the year. He pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of the game, allowing one walk, no hits and no runs while striking out two. Anthony Bender had pitched on back-to-back days, so he was unavailable for Thursday's game. Bender leads the team with four saves and is very clearly the team's primary closer at least for now. Sulser became the fourth Marlin to record a save so far this year and the team is still awaiting the 2022 debut of Dylan Floro (shoulder), who will likely end up being the primary competitor to Bender in the saves battle.
