Cole Irvin Strikes Out 11 Against Miami
2 years agoOakland Athletics left-hander Cole Irvin racked up a career-high 11 strikeouts in a no-decision in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-innings win over the Miami Marlins. Irvin threw seven shutout innings, allowed only three hits and didn't walk a single batter. The 28-year-old southpaw was virtually untouchable in this one, and in the process he lowered his ERA on the year to 3.16. He also has a 1.03 WHIP, 98 strikeouts and 26 walks in 142 1/3 innings over his 23 starts for the last-place A's. It was Irvin's 13th quality start of the season, making him very attractive in fantasy baseball despite pitching for a bad team.
