Cody Ware A Sneaky DFS Pick Among The Low-Tier Drivers At Daytona
7 months agoDon't overlook Cody Ware when building your DraftKings lineups for Saturday night's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Although the No. 15 Ford for Rick Ware Racing typically doesn't compete for anything more than a 30th-place finish, superspeedways and the draft are great equalizers and Ware has shown to be capable here at Daytona in the past. Over his last three starts at this track, Ware has finished 14th, sixth, and 17th despite starting 35th, 33rd, and 32nd (respectively). This weekend, the No. 15 Ford will roll off the starting grid from 33rd-place, which will make Cody Ware a sneaky DFS play among the low-tier drivers, as it is likely that most DraftKings players are going to overlook him and opt for the ones starting a little further back. Ware's main goal on Saturday night will likely be to avoid carnage and get to the finish. If he can do that successfully, he could very well end up being a great DFS play.

Is Cody Ware Worth Rostering At Homestead?
1 week agoCody Ware of Rick Ware Racing obtained a starting position of 36th after qualifying for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Ware's starting position matches the lowest of his Cup career at Homestead. In two previous starts at the site, Ware's best finish is 32nd, and he has one finish with positive Place Differential. Through five races so far this year, Ware has two top-30 finishes and gained positive PD three times. In practice, Ware ranked 35th in overall lap averages and 36th in 10 consecutive lap averages. Considering his equipment and slow practice speeds, Ware is mainly playable in cash-only lineups for DFS this week for those who want to save cap flexibility due to his inexpensive salary. Rostering Ware, however, means that fantasy players are relying on other drivers to have issues and for him to finish to pay off his salary, as he will not be fast enough to move naturally through the pack.

Despite Decent Run Last Fall, Cody Ware Still Isn't Worth Considering
2 weeks agoCody Ware qualified 35th for Sunday's race at Las Vegas. After missing the fall 2023 and winter 2024 races at Las Vegas after his arrest and suspension by NASCAR, he earned a career-best finish at the track when he finished 21st, and it wasn't that unrepresentative of a result as his average running position of 24th matched his best on a non-drafting oval in his career. Having said that, even though he is the cheapest DFS driver on DraftKings at $5,000, he is still unlikely to gain enough positions in terms of place differential to be a worthwhile pick to start for DFS lineups.

Cody Ware Not Very Valuable At Phoenix
3 weeks agoCody Ware qualified 35th for Sunday's race at Phoenix. Although Ware has finished better than he has started in every one of his Phoenix starts, except for the 2021 winter race where he crashed, there still isn't enough upside to actually consider him for DFS lineups. He has never finished better than 28th in a race here, nor has he finished less than four laps down. Although his DraftKings salary of $4,800 is the second-cheapest in the field, ahead of only debutant Katherine Legge, there's a reason for that, and he is best avoided.

Despite Road-Racing Background, Cody Ware Unlikely To Contend
4 weeks agoAlthough Cody Ware has a surprising amount of road course experience and he even won an Amateur class championship in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2019-20, he has never really factored in his NASCAR Cup Series road course starts to date as he has an average finish of 31.8 on all road courses and an average of 28.0 at Austin specifically. On top of that, he not only qualified 37th and last in yesterday's qualifying session, but he was also 1.3 seconds slower than the next-slowest driver Austin Cindric, and this is not the sort of track where one would expect a slow car to fluke into a decent finish. Ware should obviously not be considered for any fantasy prospects.
