6 years agoCleveland Indians closer Cody Allen is still likely to see the majority of the save chances after the team acquired relief pitcher Brad Hand, according to manager Terry Francona. However, Hand could be used in the ninth over Allen if it makes more sense against a certain part of an opponent's lineup. Allen hasn't been a lockdown closer this year with his 4.66 ERA, but he does have a 1.19 WHIP and 10.9 K/9 and Francona likes to stick with his guys. With that said, Hand has been outstanding this year and is very tough against lefties, so he could get the call occasionally in the ninth to face left-handers. Allen's value won't change all that much, but Hand loses significant fantasy value with far less save chances with his new team.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
