Cody Allen Pitches Well in Spring Training
7 years agoCleveland Indians closer Cody Allen pitched well in Cactus League play, posting a 1.13 ERA and 12 strikeouts in eight innings of work. He allowed just two hits all spring. Allen will resume his role as closer for a team sure to win plenty of games. He has nice strikeout upside, too, and belongs a bit higher in closer tiers than he is currently being ranked. There's always the danger of Andrew Miller stealing some save opportunities, but unless Allen struggles, Cleveland seems committed to keeping Miller in a more versatile setup role and Allen in the traditional ninth-inning closer role.
