Codi Heuer Picks Up First Save
3 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Codi Heuer recorded his first save of the season in Tuesday's victory versus the Cincinnati Reds. Heuer recorded the final six outs of the game and struck out two with no hits or walks allowed. Saves have been few and far between with the Cubs since the trade deadline and the Cubs have used three different pitchers for saves with the departure of Craig Kimbrel. Heuer came over from the White Sox as part of the return for Kimbrel and is now 4-2 with a 4.44 ERA and one save between the two clubs this season. With the Cubs not providing many save chances and also operating as a committee, managers don't need to rush to the waiver wire for Heuer.
