Coby Mayo Goes Deep On Sunday
1 day agoBaltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo went 3-for-5 with a home run during their victory over the Durham Bulls on Sunday. After going 0-for-7 at the plate during his first two games of the season, Mayo was able to break his slump on Sunday. In this contest, Mayo tallied six total bases, brought in two runs, and scored one himself. The 23-year-old was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but was unable to find his footing during camp. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his progression at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to return to the big leagues early in the campaign. Last season, Mayo posted a .098/.196/.098 slash line across his first 17 games in the majors. However, at Triple-A, he posted an elite .287/.364/.562 slash line. If he continues to hit for power at Triple-A, he will be worth stashing in deeper formats.
