Coby Mayo Could Be An Option To Join Orioles
4 months agoBaltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (hand) fractured his hand in Wednesday's win over the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays and may not return until the tail end of the 2024 regular season. With Jorge Mateo (elbow) also potentially out for the rest of the season, the Baltimore Banner's Danielle Allentuck suggests that third base prospect Coby Mayo could be the answer for the O's. The other option would be to stick with veteran Ramon Urias at the hot corner. It's ominous timing for an injury of this sort after Baltimore traded infield prospect Connor Norby to the Marlins on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Mayo is the team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and could make an immediate impact in all fantasy formats if he's called up and sees regular playing time at third. In 75 games at Triple-A Norfolk this year, Mayo has hit an impressive .293/.366/.578 with 20 home runs.
