Coby Mayo, Cedric Mullins On The Bench Against Toronto
4 months agoBaltimore Orioles rookie third baseman Coby Mayo and outfielder Cedric Mullins are both out of the starting lineup on Tuesday versus the hosting division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. Ramon Urias will start at third and hit ninth, while Colton Cowser will play center field and bat leadoff against Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt. Mayo, the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will get a breather after going hitless in 11 plate appearances with two walks and five strikeouts in his first three big-league games. The 22-year-old provides some intriguing upside the rest of the way with Jorge Mateo (elbow) and Jordan Westburg (hand) on the injured list, but he could split time with Urias if he continues to struggle offensively. After a five-game hitting streak to close out July, Mullins has gone hitless in his last 15 plate appearances over four games to start August with three strikeouts.
