Clayton Thorson suffers concussion, Giants sign Brian Lewerke
3 years agoNew York Giants quarterback Clayton Thorson (head) sustained a concussion during Saturday's 12-7 preseason loss to the New York Jets. He completed 5-of-16 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown before getting injured. The 25-year-old will miss time and is considered day-to-day. Free-agent quarterback Brian Lewerke signed with the Giants on Sunday and will take Thorson's place. The 24-year-old will compete for the Giants' third-string quarterback role and is expected to see some snaps under center in New York's next preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. Daniel Jones and Mike Glennon are currently the top two signal-callers on the Giants QB depth chart; Lewerke will have to impress in training camp to secure a roster spot as the team's third quarterback.
