Clay Holmes Works A Clean Ninth Inning For The Save
1 year agoNew York Yankees closer Clay Holmes earned the save on Saturday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one batter in a 3-1 win over the Houston Astros. Holmes worked the ninth inning with no issues in this one, punching out Jeremy Pena and getting Kyle Tucker to fly out before inducing a ground out from Alex Bregman to end the contest. It was Holmes' 16th save in 19 opportunities so far this season. He's been rock-solid in the back end of the Yankees bullpen this season, working a 2.06 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 53:16 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 innings (46 appearances).
