San Diego Padres infield prospect CJ Abrams has lived up to expectations so far at Double-A San Antonio, rocking a 162 wRC+ through 64 plate appearances. The Friars No. 2 prospect (No. 8 overall) has mashed two homers and stolen three bases with a .933 OPS. Abrams annihilated Rookie ball two years ago with a 1.104 OPS, earning a surprise promotion to High-A to end the season. The 2019 first-round pick brims with potential with an 60 scouting grade including a spectacular 80-grade speed. While his native shortstop position is indefinitely occupied by Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr., Abrams has played several infield and outfield positions to test his versatility. If he earns a call to Triple-A this season, the 20-year-old's big league arrival could be less than 12 months away. Stay tuned.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (hip) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Double-A Harrisburg Senators. Abrams is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, but he won't be ready to return to face the Baltimore Orioles just yet this week. However, if the 24-year-old shortstop looks good in a game or two in the minors, he could be back by Thursday's series finale against the O's. He's trying to recover from a minor right hip-flexor strain. When the former first-rounder returns to the Nats lineup, he'll be carrying a .244/.289/.583 slash line, .874 OPS, four home runs, seven RBI, four stolen bases and six runs scored in his first 41 at-bats of 2025. With Abrams on the shelf, Washington has been using Nasim Nunez as their fill-in at the 6, but he's gone just 4-for-22 in limited action with no homers, two RBI and two steals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals infielder CJ Abrams (hip) was able to run on the field prior to Tuesday's contest. Abrams was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hip flexor strain on April 12 but appears to already be making significant progress. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he could be activated on his earliest return date, April 22. Before his injury, the 24-year-old flashed his power upside as he held a .244/.289/.585 slash line with two doubles and four long balls across just 11 games. During this stretch, Abrams swiped four bags and scored six runs. Fantasy managers should expect the former top prospect to return to his typical spot at the top of the lineup when he is cleared to return. While he is out, Amed Rosario, Trey Lipscomb, and Nasim Nunez should continue to share time at shortstop.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Washington Nationals have placed shortstop CJ Abrams (hip) on the 10-day injured list. In a corresponding move, the Nationals promoted infielder Nasim Nunez from Triple-A. The infielder aggravated his right hip flexor during Friday's contest against the Miami Marlins. The 24-year-old was also kept out of the starting lineup earlier in the week due to a hip injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he needs to miss additional time while on the injured list. Through his first 11 games of the campaign, Abrams has held a .244/.289/.585 slash line with two doubles, four home runs, and four stolen bases. While Abrams is out, fantasy managers should expect Paul DeJong to see most of the opportunities at shortstop.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals CJ Abrams (hip) aggravated his hip flexor during Friday's 7-4 win over the Miami Marlins. Abrams injured his hip while attempting to steal second base and fielding a grounder in the third inning. The 24-year-old went 0-for-1 with a walk, stolen base, and a strikeout before exiting Friday's game. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday and is considered day-to-day for now. Abrams is slashing .244/.289/.585 with four home runs, seven RBI, and four stolen bases over 46 plate appearances in 2025. Amed Rosario replaced Abrams on Friday and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any games. Rosario is on the deep-league radar for fantasy managers searching for middle infield help after hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a home run and five RBI over seven games.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
