Chuba Hubbard Tallies 13 Touches Friday
3 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard carried the ball 10 times for 35 rushing yards and caught three of four targets for 15 receiving yards in Friday's preseason win over Pittsburgh. Hubbard got the start once again and was involved from the start, as he caught a four-yard pass and broke off an 11-yard run on the first two offensive plays for Carolina. A bad drop was the only blemish on Hubbard's ledger Friday night. The rookie back has gotten extended run this preseason with Christian McCaffrey rested and fellow backups Reggie Bonnafon (undisclosed) and Rodney Smith (undisclosed) unable to play. Hubbard is the insurance policy to target behind McCaffrey right now, as his preseason usage suggests the team trusts him to occupy a fairly large role if something happens to the former.
