Christopher Bell Has A Strong Performance At Atlanta
3 months agoChristopher Bell finished fourth in Sunday's Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The No. 20 Toyota driver started the race in the back half of the pack from the 26th position right from the first stage. Bell would go on to finish 19th by the end of Stage 1 and fail to collect stage points. During the second stage, Bell continued ascending through the field until he caught a pit-road penalty on Lap 115 for pitting outside of the box. Bell spent the rest of the second stage recovering from the penalty and made it up to 10th by the end, gaining one stage point. In the final stage, Bell would maneuver around the chaos and wrecks of the field during the latter portions of the race and put himself in a competitive position to challenge for the win by the race's final restart. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver did not have enough drafting help to compete for the victory, but he did obtain the second top-five finish of his Cup career at AMS since 2022. Expect Bell to be an underrated threat for the win in the next Cup Series race at Watkins Glen, where he has three top-10 finishes in three starts at the site.
