Christian McCaffrey Not Expected To Play Sunday
3 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is not expected to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Colts. Head coach Matt Rhule noted on Friday that most of the starters wouldn't play for the opening preseason contest- and McCaffrey is likely among those, considering he endured an injury-marred campaign in 2020, suiting up for just three games. The Panthers said that they wouldn't limit McCaffrey's workload in any way following his lost 2020 season, though it makes sense to conserve the number of reps he takes wherever possible, especially with a 17-game season on the way. Fantasy managers should have no reservations about taking McCaffrey with the first pick, as he had started all 16 games in each of the previous two years, compiling at least 1900 scrimmage yards and 13 scores while finishing as a top-two running back in each campaign.
