Christian Encarnacion-Strand Sidelined With Back Injury
2 years agoCincinnati Reds corner infield prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) isn't expected to return to game action until anytime between April 19-24 due to a slight herniation disc in his back. The Reds are saying it's precautionary and it makes all the sense in the world to play things safe with one of their better prospects. The 23-year-old was a surprise cut a couple weeks ago, but was white-hot in the Cactus league with a .557 batting average to go along with four long balls and 13 RBI. With Joey Votto aging and dealing with a shoulder injury, Encarnacion-Strand could be called upon when healthy and also could make an impact for managers. One of the top power hitters in the minor leagues, Encarnacion-Strand's situation makes him one of the safer prospects to stash in redraft leagues and dynasty managers seeking power should keep tabs on his health and roster status moving forward.
