Christian Encarnacion-Strand Receives Second Opinion, Set To Swing A Bat In The Coming Weeks
5 months agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) visited a specialist for a second opinion on June 8 and was advised to rest for an additional five days. The 24-year-old was originally scheduled to begin the next step in his rehab progression on June 5 but opted to go for a second opinion. In addition, Encarnacion-Strand is hopeful to resume his current progression after the newly established rest period and should begin swinging a bat in the next couple of weeks, as per manager David Bell. The Oklahoma State product has been on the 10-day injured list since May 8 with a right ulnar styloid fracture. With this recent news, fantasy managers should not expect Encarnacion-Strand back on the field until the end of June or potentially early July. He should remain stashed in standard leagues as he should provide a solid amount of power and RBI in a hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark during the second half of the season.
