Chris Thompson's Value Won't Change
7 years agoWashington Redskins running back Chris Thompson's role will not change in 2018, even after the team selected Derrius Guice early in this year's draft. Thompson was a key part of the offense last year, catching 39 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games before he broke his leg. The health of tight end Jordan Reed will determine how big of a role Thompson has. With Reed on the field, Thompson saw fewer targets in the passing game. With Guice now in the fold, Thompson will be relied on more on the ground. “Chris will be in there a lot, so I think the rotation that we will come up with will be quite beneficial to all the backs,” head coach Jay Gruden said after the draft. “Keep them fresh, keep them healthy and then use their skill set accordingly.” Thompson should also be healthy, as he said last week that doctors have said his bone has healed. Thompson probably won't be as effective as he was in 2017 before his injury with Guice now in the fold, but he can still be a value pick in drafts as an RB3/flex type in PPR leagues.
