Chris Sale To Make Next Appearance In Spring Game
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale (wrist) threw two innings of live batting practice on Wednesday, totaling 43 pitches. Manager Alex Cora said that Sale's next appearance would be in a Grapefruit League game, likely next week. The 33-year-old southpaw is fully healthy in camp, but the Red Sox have chosen to take it slowly with the oft-injured ace. Sale was an All-Star in seven straight seasons from 2012-2018, but he's made only 11 starts in the last three years combined due to injuries. When healthy, he's been one of the most dominant starters in baseball, but it's fair to wonder if he can recapture that form after tossing just 48 1/3 innings since 2021. Sale will be a risk/reward wild card in 2023 for fantasy managers. UPDATE: Sale will make his Grapefruit League debut on Monday.
