Chris Sale Not Expected To Undergo Tommy John Surgery
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow) is not expected to undergo Tommy John surgery at this point, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. It was discovered Monday that Sale experienced elbow soreness after a live bullpen session he threw on Sunday, leading the 30-year-old to an MRI and second opinion by Dr. James Andrews that the club is expected to announce on Thursday. Sale will address the media once he knows what the plan is going forward, but fantasy owners should be cautious as the Red Sox left-hander had his 2019 season shut down in August due to left elbow inflammation, while he has already been slated to begin the 2020 season on the injured list after dealing with pneumonia at the start of camp.
