Chris Rodriguez Jr. Could Be Involved In Washington's Backfield
2 years agoFormer University of Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders, but the team reportedly had a third-round grade on him. That said, he could have a chance to see touches alongside Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson Jr. in his rookie campaign. His sixth-round draft capital means he's no guarantee to even make the roster, but it certainly doesn't hurt that Washington was high on him in the pre-draft process. The 22-year-old running back posted 3,643 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns in five seasons at Kentucky and has adequate size (217 lbs.) to handle early-down work. Ultimately, he'll have an uphill battle to beat out Robinson, but the Alabama product averaged just 3.9 yards per carry last season, so it's not an impossible task.
