Chris Newell Nearing 20/20 Season In High-A
5 months agoIn just 73 games, Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Chris Newell is one stolen base away from a 20/20 season with High-A Great Lakes. Through 318 plate appearances, the 23-year-old lefty is slashing .226/.363/.514 with 52 runs scored, 12 doubles, 20 home runs, 56 RBI, and a 52:104 BB/SO ratio. Based on his stat line, he clearly has an impressive power-speed combination. However, his alarming strikeout rate will likely take some time to refine in the minor leagues. Newell isn't currently one of the Dodgers' top 30 prospects (per MLB.com). But it's hard to imagine that won't change, if he keeps playing at this level.
